We’ll almost certainly see 5G support in nearly every noteworthy release, including a growing number of phones at lower price points. We’re hoping to see some truly unique designs included in the mix as well.
If you’re thinking about upgrading this year, here’s a list of all the big phones that have been rumored or leaked so far. And stay tuned, because we’ll be updating this list throughout the year with new entries and information, as well as links to our reviews of recently released phones.
The Apple iPhone 13 is loaded with a lot of apps that can help you improve your efficiency and productivity.e and independent lifestyle.
Apple iPhone 13
Even though the excellent iPhone 12 (shown) was only released a few months ago, there have already been several leaks and rumors about what to expect from the iPhone 13.
According to multiple reports from the supply chain, the iPhone 13 will have a smaller notch — something that has been rumored since the iPhone X was released, but to no avail — but will otherwise look similar to the iPhone 12. A more grippable matte backing is also rumored, but it’s unclear whether this will be limited to the Pro models.
Along with an improved ultra-wide camera and added astrophotography smarts, we could see the sensor-shift optical image stabilisation from the iPhone 12 Pro Max extend to the entire iPhone 13 line. And let’s hope that the rumored 120Hz screen refresh rate, which was omitted from the iPhone 12, makes an appearance on the iPhone 13 – rumors suggest it will, along with an always-on display (as seen in a concept render up top). There’s also talk of a 1TB storage option, which would double the iPhone 12 Pro’s current storage capacity.
Apple’s normal release window is September, but due to the pandemic, the last one was pushed to October. This year, we expect to see the iPhone 13 in a similar autumn window.
Huawei P50 PRO
Huawei appears to be preparing to launch a new P-series device this spring, with concept renders and leaks of the P50 Pro surfacing recently. While earlier concept renders for Huawei’s upcoming flagship didn’t show much variation, the latest round from reliable leaker OnLeaks is quite different.
Take a look at that stunning camera module on the back. With two extra-large circles, it’s like a super-sized version of a regular double-stack module. The concept renders aren’t very detailed, but we suspect that each one contains multiple cameras. After all, the P40 Pro had four rear cameras and the P40 Pro+ had five, so the P50 Pro having only two would be shocking. On the other hand, a previous leak hinted at Sony developing the world’s first 1in mobile camera sensor, so anything is possible.
The purportedly leaked photos of the upcoming handset obtained by Huawei Central show a clearer view of the rumored rear camera module. Both large circles have a pair of side-by-side cameras, giving the impression that they are wall outlets.
We’ll undoubtedly see Huawei’s Kirin 9000 5G processor and some seriously impressive cameras, but if the United States’ restrictions on Huawei don’t change soon, there won’t be any Google apps or services onboard. In any case, we’re interested to see how the camera situation develops.
Google Pixel 5A
Between the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5, all of which launched in the latter months of last year, things got a little confusing, especially since the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 share a lot of similarities. With the rumored launch of the Pixel 5a, things may become even more perplexing.
That’s an OnLeaks concept render, and if you thought it was just the Pixel 4a 5G, we understand. There are no obvious differences that we can see, so it’s possible that Google has simply found a design that it likes, or that the leaks haven’t yet sprouted enough details.
Recent rumors suggested that Google had scrapped plans for the Pixel 5a due to the current chip shortage, but Google surprised everyone by confirming that the Pixel 5a will be released this year around the same time as the Pixel 4a (August), but only in the US and Japan.
Samsung Galaxy Z FOLD 3
Could the foldable Galaxy Z Fold take over as Samsung’s super-luxe productivity phone, with S Pen stylus support coming to other Samsung phones and the Note line rumored to be phased out?
The inclusion of a S Pen slot in a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 this year is rumored, and it makes sense: the foldable phone’s large, tablet-sized screen on the inside is an excellent surface for on-the-go work needs. LetsGoDigital and ConceptCreator collaborated on a concept render that takes inspiration from the Galaxy S21’s design while also including the S Pen and a slot. According to the latest rumors, the device will have an under-display camera and will be released in June or July. Ben Geskin, a leaker, has shared a new concept render that includes many of the aforementioned changes, as well as 120Hz screens both inside and out and a slimmer overall design.
Samsung is also rumored to be working on a more affordable Galaxy Z Fold model for 2021, possibly dubbed the Galaxy Z Fold FE, to follow in the footsteps of the Galaxy S20 revision. We haven’t heard much about how the alleged FE version will save money by omitting the S Pen, but it would make sense to do so alongside some more modest spec and material choices.
