Tecno Camon 18 Premier Specs Review and unboxing

15Views

Tecno Camon 18 Premier – Tecno has released a new Premier phone with a strong focus on the camera. With premium features like gimbal stabilization and long-range zoom courtesy to a periscopic lens, the new Tecno Camon 18 Premier offers a major photographic boost over the preceding Camon 16 Premier and Camon 17 Pro.

Because Tecno primarily targets underdeveloped nations, it takes a different approach to cellphones than major manufacturers. The Camon series offers huge displays and batteries, as well as an excellent camera experience and adequate performance for a low price.

Pre-installed partner apps and built-in advertisements throughout the UI keep the price even cheaper. For some, this may be a deal-breaker, but for others, it is a worthwhile trade-off.

The Camon 18 Premier does indeed have several flagship-worthy features, such as a huge 120Hz AMOLED screen, 256GB of base storage, a massive battery with quick 33W charging, and, most significantly, an outstanding camera on the rear. The main camera is a standard 64MP sensor that we’ve seen before, but there’s also an 8MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a 12MP ultrawide sensor with gimbal stabilization.

With a dual-glass design, eye-catching paintjobs, and a slim 8mm profile, the Tecno Camon 18 Premier is a stunning smartphone. It has 3.5mm port, microSD expansion, and even FM radio, which are all popular features. There’s also a dedicated selfie LED flash, which is something that just a few phones have.

Tecno Camon 18 Premier specs at a glance:

  • Body: 163.8×75.9×8.2mm, 201g; tempered glass front and back, plastic frame.
  • Display: 6.70″ AMOLED, 120Hz, 550 nits (typ), 1080x2400px resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 393ppi.
  • Chipset: Mediatek Helio G96 (12 nm): Octa-core (2×2.05 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55); Mali-G57 MC2.
  • Memory: 256GB 8GB RAM; microSDXC (dedicated slot).
  • OS/Software: Android 11, HIOS 8.0.
  • Rear camera: Wide (main): 64 MP, f/1.6, 26mm, PDAF; Telephoto: 8 MP, f/3.5, 135mm, PDAF, 5x optical zoom; Ultra wide angle: 12 MP, gimbal OIS.
  • Front camera: 32 MP, (wide).
  • Video capture: Rear camera: 4K@30fps, 1080p@30fps, gyro-EIS; Front camera: 1080p@30fps.
  • Battery: 4750mAh; Fast charging 33W, 64% in 30 min (advertised).
  • Misc: Fingerprint reader (side-mounted); NFC; FM radio; 3.5mm jack.

The Tecno Camon 18 Premier is definitely not perfect – the Helio G96 chip is OK, but if you want a smooth gaming experience, you’ll need to make a few visual modifications. Even if the screen supports 120 frames per second, we doubt any game would be able to reach that.

Stereo speakers and any type of weather protection – even basic water resistance would have been excellent – are two things we sorely miss. However, as the camera most likely ate up a large portion of the money, we’ll try not to hold these omissions against this Premier.
