Xiaomi Mi 11i/Mi 11X Pro review

Xiaomi Mi 11i/Mi 11X Pro – At the time of writing this review, Xiaomi’s Mi 11 lineup included eight devices with a wide range of features and price points. This time, we’ve got the Mi 11i for you, following a couple of Lites, an Ultra, and the Mi 11 proper, all of which we recently reviewed.

For the sake of clarity, a few more words on naming and market positioning are required, though ‘clarity’ may be an unattainable goal. We’ll call the phone Mi 11i because that’s what it says on the box we have, but the Mi 11X Pro is essentially the same device in India, and the two are nearly identical to the Redmi K40 Pro+ sold in China. Here’s how they stack up in terms of specifications.

We’re classifying the Mi 11i as a member of the ‘flagship killer’ breed based on its specifications, assuming that’s still a thing. It has the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 888 chip to justify being mentioned in the same breath as the big boys, but it comes with a slew of compromises to fit the killer budget.

Although the display isn’t as high-resolution as the Mi 11s’, it is still a 120Hz-capable Super AMOLED with HDR support and extreme brightness. The camera system is nearly identical to that of the Mi 11 itself, with a 108MP main camera (albeit with a different, smaller sensor), an ultrawide (lower resolution, but fixed focus), and the same 5MP sort-of-tele macro that outperforms most. In the meantime, a few dozen milliamp-hours in battery capacity and 33W charging instead of 55W or 67W, as well as GG5 protection instead of Victus, are minor compromises.

Xiaomi Mi 11i unboxing

The Mi 11i comes packaged in the same white box with copper lettering as the Mi 11. In comparison, the Mi 11 Ultra arrived in a black box.

The Mi 11X Pro for India, on the other hand, comes in a black box with a unique design that includes a phone likeness on the lid.

The Mi 11i and Mi 11X Pro’s box contents, on the other hand, are identical (well, minus the charger prongs, which vary by region). A USB-A-to-C cable, a headphone dongle, and a clear silicone protective case are included with the 33W charger.
